Greece Update July 2015
We are forwarding a notice posted by our associate agent Salco Holidays concerning the current situation in Corfu (July 2015):
We understand that some of our clients may be concerned about the media reports relating to the financial situation in Greece.
We would like to reassure all our customers, and intending customers that in the main tourist areas, it is very much business as usual.
We have not had any reports of disruption from any of our clients currently on holiday in Greece.
Although banks are closed, payments can still be processed which means that the cash machines are working and you can still pay using your card in many shops and restaurants. The controls that have been introduced only apply to Greek cards so you will be able to withdraw cash without any restrictions.
Of course, the local cash machines may indeed on occasions be short of funds, as they sometimes tend to be anyway at the best of times! We therefore, suggest that you bring a little extra cash with you. There are safes in most hotels and apartments and travel agencies in most resorts.
The other good news is that the exchange rate against the Euro is rather attractive and therefore holiday makers can now get more Euros for their money, making a holiday to Greece even better value!
